The purpose of the Upper School Servant Leadership Program at The Summit is to develop leadership attributes within our students, so that they can enter the world with the courage, confidence, and character needed to serve others in pursuit of the common good.
While some people are viewed as “born leaders,” we believe that the characteristic of leadership is developed, rather than inherent, and that the raw materials of leadership exist within every student. Through a four-year program of training, experiential learning, and reflection focused on the formation of conscience, the Servant Leadership Program promotes the discovery of attributes that empower students to connect and engage their heads, hearts, and hands in collaborative service.
The program is guided by five overarching goals for Upper School students, which are evaluated on an annual basis:
