Transportation Procedures for Arrival and Dismissal

Below you will find instructions for arrival and dismissal. These routines have been developed to best achieve the Master Plan’s objective to expedite arrival and dismissal in the safest manner possible. It is the intent of these routines to give recognition to the impact of arrival and dismissal on the community as well as everyone at the school. We ask that only Summit roadways be utilized during arrival and dismissal. Please refrain from accessing the campus through private lanes adjacent to the school. Grandin Lane is a private lane and is not to be used for either drop off or pick up traffic. The Summit has assured our neighbors that we would remind you of this and we appreciate your cooperation to respect our neighbors and maintain good neighbor relations.

Access to the schools is available as follows:
- Montessori      7:45 a.m.

- Lower School   7:45 a.m.

- Middle School  8:00 a.m.

- Upper School   7:00 a.m.

Arrival and Dismissal routines are separated into those using bus transportation versus car transportation.

Dismissal Procedures

Critical:  For DISMISSAL ONLY parents should use the school entrance of the OLDEST student at The Summit. Note – this is different from the arrival procedures. Younger students will be assisted by faculty in their travel to the pick up area of their older siblings.

It is expected that all dismissals will be complete by 3:30 pm. If your student is not picked up by the completion of dismissal, Montessori through grades eight will be directed to the After School Care Facility. The After School Care Facility is located in the east end of the Main Building on the ground floor. The facility is accessible using the wheel chair entrance facing Flannery Gymnasium.

Safety and timeliness are important elements in our arrival and dismissal routines.

Upper School: Enter the Main Drive from Grandin Road. Proceed in the right hand lane to the first stop sign and park. Vehicles should park in a single lane nearest the curb. Upon dismissal, Upper School students may proceed using the western sidewalk to their vehicle. A Summit employee will assist vehicles in their u-turn and exit from the Main Drive to Grandin Road. When all buses have cleared the front circle of the Main Building, vehicles may proceed into the circle for student pick-up.

If you should arrive after 8:15 a.m., a teacher will not be present outside to assist you, so proceed to the Montessori parking lot and park your car.
