Summit Country Day School Seniors Nate Goodhart of Anderson Township and Will Temizer of Hyde Park have been named the 2012 Anthony Munoz Foundation Offensive Lineman and Defensive Lineman of the Year for Division 5 in Ohio. Nate is the offensive line award winner and William is the defensive line award winner. This marks the second consecutive year that Summit players have won Munoz Foundation awards.

"Nate and Will have really exemplified what it is to be a complete football player and shown that hard work does in fact pay-off,” says Summit Head Football Coach Mike Brown. “I can't say enough about how they both have worked hard to make sure their football careers at Summit were memorable ones, starting out when they were freshmen and eventually becoming true leaders of the program on the field, in the classroom and out in the community."

The Munoz award recognizes the top linemen in the Tri-State region for their success on and off the playing field. Winners must show a level of academic success and community involvement as well.

Nate is the anchor of an offensive line that paved the way for the Silver Knights rushing attack, with almost 2,200 yards and 31 touchdowns during this year’s regular season. He is a captain, first-team all-conference offensive lineman, first-team all-district, first-team all-city and first-team all-state for Division 5.

"The style of play and leadership has changed for the better in Nate's four years with the program,” says Coach Brown. “He is a tough player and a great vocal leader who was also willing to put the time in to become one of the best linemen in Cincinnati. His dedication to football and Summit Country Day is exactly what every coach loves to see in a student athlete."

Will made an impact starting out as a defensive end and also playing nose on the defensive line with 52 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He is a captain and second-team all-conference defensive lineman.

"Will's dedication to being the best football player he could be was inspiring,” says Coach Brown. “On a regular basis he was going up against opponents that were bigger in size, but because of his hard work in the weight room and on the practice field, he was stronger mentally and physically than many of the guys he faced. It's excellent to see Will's dedication to being a good football player translate into his role as a captain of the team, as well as a great student and representative for Summit."

Last year, Dane Fajack ’11 won the Division 5 Offensive Lineman of the Year. “We are very proud to come back a second consecutive year and see two of our players named for both categories this year and be represented as winners of this prestigious award from such a wonderful foundation -- not to mention it coming from the best offensive lineman to ever play the game,” Coach Brown said.
