The Summit's Alex Thurner named to All-American Lacrosse Team

Summit Country Day’s Alex Thurner of Hyde Park was named Honorable Mention All-American by the US Lacrosse Association. Alex was one of 395 All Americans named out of an estimated 60,000 high school girls playing lacrosse in the United States. Alex is the first Division 2 player in the state of Ohio to ever be named All American. She was also named to the Academic All American Team her junior and senior years. She is the first athlete, male or female, in Summit’s history to be named to an All American team.
Alex led the state of Ohio in goal scoring for all divisions her junior and senior year combined with 151 goals. In her junior year Summit’s team made it to the state finals in just their third year playing the sport. This year Summit was ranked number 1 in the south region before losing to Lakota in the regional final.
She graduated this June and will be playing lacrosse in college at Denison on an academic
scholarship. She will be the first female lacrosse player to continue her lacrosse career in college.
