She and four other Summit students -- Ceci Donovan, Elizabeth Eadie, Isabelle Saldana and Elizabeth Herfel -- won Gold Key Awards. Their work will travel to New York for the national Scholastic competition.
Altogether, 15 Summit students won 22 awards in the regional competition. In addition to the American Visions and Gold Key Awards, students also won four Silver Awards and nine Honorable Mentions. They are all students of Upper School Art Teacher Mark Wiesner and Middle School Art Teacher Alyson Mardin.
The Scholastic awards program is the nation's longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers in the visual and literary arts. The awards were established to encourage, foster and reward creativity in the classroom. Nearly 4,000 entries were submitted from students in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.
