The Summit Country Day girls’ and boys’ varsity soccer teams were again awarded the prestigious National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) Team Academic Award under girls’ Coach Mike Fee and boys’ Coach Barnard Baker.

The awards are given annually to teams who demonstrate exemplary performance in the classroom during the academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding each player’s GPA, then dividing that number by the number of players. The average GPA for the state-champion girls’ team was 3.92. The average GPA for the boys’ team was 3.46 on a 4.0 scale.

This was the seventh consecutive year that The Summit girls’ team won the award and the fifth consecutive year for the boys.

“Our younger players now understand the importance of what it means to be a championship-winning student-athlete,” said Coach Fee. “The standard has been set and is expected to be continued.”

Summit is one of only 59 schools throughout the nation to receive honors for both the boys’ and girls’ teams and the only one in Cincinnati. In the region, Summit is the only boys’ team to win the award and one of only four girls’ teams to win it. Summit’s girls’ team is the Ohio Division III Champion.
