Summit seventh graders will advance in Power of Pen competition

Eighth grader Elena Montag, shown here writing during the Jan. 21 district Power of the Pen tournament hosted by The Summit, was given a director’s choice award for her Round 2 story and a Best of Round award for her Round 3 story, “Unpractical.”
Summit’s entire seventh grade Power of the Pen team has qualified to compete in the March 17 regional tournament at Princeton Community Middle School.
Additional honors were bestowed upon eighth grader Elena Montag with a Director’s Choice Award for her Round 2 story and a Best of Round award for her Round 3 story, “Unpractical.” Elena’s performance at the Jan. 21 Power of the Pen district competition hosted by The Summit automatically earned her a spot at the regional meet, as did the performance of eighth grader Elisa Stanis.
Seventh grade team members included Amalia Nichifor, Jennifer Whitehead, Hope Thomson, Caroline Schmerge, Haley Hauser, and Alejandra Valencia.
