Mr. Terrence Malone begins as Director of The Summit Country Day’s Lower School this week.
Mr. Malone attended St. Cecilia Elementary School and LaSalle College High School. He received a soccer scholarship to Holy Family College in Philadelphia, and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. He received a Master’s Degree in Education from Gwynedd-Mercy College, in Gwynedd Valley, PA. He is currently the principal of Woodcrest Elementary School in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Prior to his administrative role, Mr. Malone was a Lower School teacher and a High School coach in soccer, wrestling and track. In his new position, he will lead over 265 students, faculty and staff in grades one through four, replacing Mrs. Clare King, who is leaving The Summit after serving as Lower School Director for 28 years.
Mr. Jerry Jellig, Summit’s Head of School, said: “I am thrilled that Terry has accepted this important position. I am confident that he will build on our successes and continue to lead the Lower School as a preeminent institution that meets the needs of all our young students and creates a unique and joyful learning experience. He is well versed in literacy, numeracy, and character education, three virtues our community holds dear.” In accepting the position, Mr. Malone said, “I have attended Catholic schools all my life. “When I entered the doors of The Summit I immediately knew that this was a place where I could combine the academic excellence I’ve come to know in Cherry Hill with the faith component I was longing for in my career. I couldn’t be happier.”
Mr. Malone moved to Cincinnati this summer with his wife Jennifer and their two children, Aiden, age 4 and Brendan, age 2. Both will attend The Summit this fall.
