Summit Country Day School Senior Gabe Scott, Anderson Township, today signed his letter of intent to play baseball with NCAA Division 1 George Washington University.
A left-handed hitting and throwing outfielder, Gabe is a two-year captain of the team, earned First Team All-City in 2010, was named League Miami Valley Conference Division Scarlet Player of the Year in 2010, and was First Team All League in 2009 and 2010. Through the last baseball season, Gabe had a .416 batting average; .681 slugging percentage and .579 on base percentage. His record includes 46 stolen bases, 88 runs scored and 28 extra base hits.
"I feel that George Washington will be an excellent fit for Gabe in the classroom and on the baseball field,” said Coach Triffon Callos. “Gabe brings many leadership qualities to my program and sets a great example with his work ethic. I am excited for Gabe, his family and The Summit Baseball Program."
Today is the first date that high school athletes can sign national letters of intent for sports that include basketball, wrestling, swimming and diving, lacrosse, volleyball, gymnastics, softball, golf, hockey, baseball and tennis.
Gabe received cheers from his classmates, coach and parents -- J. Kevin and Kathy Scott -- who were on hand for the signing in Summit’s Flannery Gym.
