2007 Season Recap
03/28/08
Somebody forgot to tell the 2007 boys soccer team that it was supposed to be a down year. The boys wrapped up their season with a 10-5-3 record and a third place finish in the Miami Valley Conference. Not bad for a team that graduated 10 seniors, including the Southwest Ohio Player of the Year. This year’s team was ranked as high as #6 in Ohio, finished the regular season ranked #3 in Cincinnati and received the #3 seed in the district draw for the Division III State Tournament.
“There were a lot of skeptics who thought that we were too young, that our schedule was too hard and that we lost too much to graduation and injury,” said first year head coach Barnard Baker. “I believe we proved them wrong.”
The 2007 highlights include an exciting 4-1 win over #1 ranked and defending state champion Worthington Christian, a dominating 7-2 victory over Greeneview (the 2005 State Champions), and a 3-2 opening night win over Mariemont, the first official win in Coach Baker’s career. The Silver Knights went on to face 12 teams ranked in their area top tens and five teams ranked in the state top ten.
