The Scoop from Jerry Jellig, Head of School

04/01/08

Dear Parents,

I hope you had an enjoyable spring break and are as excited as I am to do great things during our 4th quarter. I wanted to cover a few items of importance.

Uniforms:

April 7th officially starts our 4th quarter and students may begin to wear the warm weather uniform, which includes polo shirts and shorts. Details of acceptable attire are on page 24 of the Summit 2007-08 parent directory.

Additionally, as I mentioned at our March SPA/parent meeting, our contract with Campus Outfitters is up and we will be modifying the uniforms for the 2008-2009 school year, beginning in December. I will form a committee of students, parents and teachers to provide input on uniforms and complete information will be available before school ends in June.

SPA/Kroger cards:

One of the easiest ways to help The Summit is to purchase a Kroger Gift Card…everyone has to buy groceries! Simply purchase the card in the Spirit shop and present it to the Kroger cashier at the check out. KEEP THE CARD and reload it each time you shop…the SPA continues to reap the rewards as long as you keep the original card. The strip on the card identifies SPA as the organization that receives the reward dollars. The SPA receives 4% of all purchases made with the Kroger Gift Card. In addition to the gift shop, you can get a card by contacting Bobby Blum at treybob@earthlink.net and we will either mail or send it home with your child.

Bittersweet news:

Shannon Howell, Associate Director of Admissions, Director of Diversity, and all around good guy has accepted the position of Director of Admissions at Elgin Academy, outside Chicago. He hasn’t been good for The Summit, he’s been great, and we’ll miss him. Please join me in congratulating Shannon on this promotion and great opportunity for him and his growing family.

Sincerely,

Jerry Jellig
