The Scoop from the SPA: Mrs. Julie Klosterman

April 1, 2008

Welcome back to the school routine! I hope your spring break was a healthy and happy one.

Thank you to the many moms (and a few dads!) that attended our March SPA Parent Meeting. Those present heard updates from the various schools and a general update on school happenings from Jerry Jellig. Mr. Jellig spoke of the new Montessori program which includes two year-olds and of his willingness to discuss different formats for Middle School mixers. After the business part of the meeting parents were treated to an abbreviated historical tour of The Summit by Upper School English teacher and resident historian, Pat Kelly. A special thank you to Mr. Kelly for rearranging his schedule to accommodate our parents.

We would love to see you at the next SPA Parent Meeting. It takes place on Wednesday, April 23rd, and will be held in the Upper School Dining Room at 8:30 a.m. (located in the lower level of the main building). For those of you who haven't seen the US & St. Greg's Dining Room makeover, please make a point of attending to see the beautiful space that it has become. Mr. Jellig will be speaking again, introducing us to the new video system that the students are enjoying. We will be able to view some representative podcasts of school activities and learn more about how the system works and how it will benefit our children. Mr. Jellig will also, of course, be happy to address miscellaneous questions and concerns that you may have. Please put April 23rd on your calendar and keep up to date with what's happening at The Summit.

Upcoming SPA events include the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon in May. If you would like to help out by bringing food or supplies, please contact your School Chair or email Event Chairs, Kerry Mongelluzzo or Jane Eckstein. We have wonderful teachers and staff at our school, and this is a great chance to let them know how much we appreciate them!

Also, we have our annual Spring Fashion Show coming up on May 14th. It will be held at Kenwood Country Club. This is the wonderful "ladies' night out" that includes dinner, a preview of new spring fashions, and a great time with friends. Look for your invitation soon.

One last reminder - please keep in mind that our SPA Gift Cards are still for sale. You can stop by the Spirit Shop Monday through Friday from 11:30 to 1:30 where we have some cards in stock, or click here to print the order form. The cards are always popular teacher and coach gifts. Please take advantage of this easy way to support The Summit.

Again, thank you to all who attended our last SPA meeting, and I hope to see a large turnout again for our April 23rd meeting.
