The Cafeteria
- Items on the menu board written in purple are under 30% fat.
- Light and trim plate lunch specials are available daily for $3.40 and include a high quality entrée and side items with spa water or iced tea.
- Bagel/English Muffin Bar includes cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, honey and assorted jellies. Bagels include: whole wheat, blueberry, cinnamon raisin and plain. Choices for English Muffins include Plain and whole wheat (high fiber).
- Fresh vegetable trays are available free several days a week to encourage healthy choices. Cooked vegetables are stir fried with minimal amount of olive oil and Mrs. Dash is added for flavor.
- Non-fat frozen yogurt is available in the soft serve machine.
- Reduced fat, fat-free and sugar-free baked snacks are available in the main cafeteria.
- Soups and casseroles are prepared from scratch reducing sodium, additives and preservatives, as well as fat. Low fat/part skim mozzarella is used in casseroles and homemade pizza. Whole wheat, multi grain, and organic products are incorporated as well.
- A fresh extensive salad bar is available every day in the main cafeteria including ham and turkey (low fat 1.5 gms. per 2 oz. serving). Fresh vegetables and herbs are used whenever possible from The Summit Garden (provided by The Lower School). Homemade Ranch (regular and low fat) and homemade low-fat vinaigrette are available as well.
- Large and small assorted yogurts are offered daily, as well as an assortment of cheese, hard boiled eggs, hummus, cottage cheese and cheese and cracker plates.
- Tuna salad and sandwiches including ham, turkey, salami & peanut butter and jelly are offered daily with a rotation of chicken, egg, and ham salad.
- Fresh hot Panini sandwiches and homemade strawberry, banana and blueberry smoothies are offered periodically.
- Fresh fruit bowls such as strawberries, cantaloupe, bananas, grapes, apples, oranges and watermelon are served daily in the main cafeteria. Organic fruits & vegetables are also offered when available/affordable.
- We offer 1% reduced fat chocolate milk, skim, 1% & 2% white milk, and
fat free milk. We encourage Lower School students to drink milk for healthy bone growth, unless there is a milk allergy and orange juice is then offered. Water is also available in both cafeterias.
- The plate lunch in the Lower School cafeteria includes at least one fruit & one vegetable daily and consists of one-third of the daily requirements established by the United Stated Department of Agriculture. Lower School children can substitute the entrée for assorted yogurt, cottage cheese & crackers, PB&J, plain PB or cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread. The Lower School can have a second entrée or a choice of bagel & cream cheese, PB&J, plain PB or cheese sandwich on whole wheat.
- Daily breakfast offerings from 7:30- 8:15 a.m. include: English muffin or croissant sandwiches with bacon, egg and cheese, assorted cereals, fresh fruit, multi-grain and granola bars, plain and whole wheat (high fiber) English muffins, bagels (including whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, blueberry and plain), coffee, hot chocolate, milk, assorted juices and water.
