Swimming  2011-12

Feb. 13 District Diving Meet:
Congratulations to Freshman Stewart Spanbauer who placed 5th at the District Diving Meet which was held at Miami University in Oxford, OH.  Stewart completed 11 dives for a total score of 349.30.  Stewart broke the school diving record last week at Sectionals when he scored a total of 360.30 points.

Feb. 11 Sectional Meet:
Congratulations to Freshman Amanda Sequeira who qualified for the District Swim Meet in two individual events - the 100 IM and the 100 Yd. Breastroke.  The District Meet for girls will be held Saturday, February 18, 10:45 a.m. at Miami University.  Other swimmers who competed in the Sectional Meet were Team Captain MacKenzie horvath, Abby Semler and Colin Moser.

Feb. 6 Sectional Diving Meet:
Congratulations to Stewart Spanbauer, Fr.,  who placed 5th in the Sectional Diving Meet which was held at Miami University on Feb. 6th. Stewart will now advance to Districts which will also be held at Miami University on Feb. 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Feb. 4 SOSL & MVC Championships:
Congratulations to Amanda Sequeira who placed 1st in the 200 I.M. and the 100 Yard Breaststroke in both the SOSL and the MVC Championships which were held February 4th at Cincinnati Country Day School. Other participants in the meet were Colin Moser who placed 2nd in both the 50 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Freestyle, Team Captain MacKenzie Horvath who placed 8th in the 200 I.M., and 10th in the 100 Yard Butterfly. and Abby Semler who placed 8th in the 100 Yard Freestyle, and 7th in the 500 Yard Freestyle.


Jan. 14-15 Classic Swim Meet:
Congratulations to freshmen Amanda Sequeira and Stewart Spanbauer who were both finalists on Jan. 14th and 15th at the 29th Annual Classic Swimming and Diving Meet. The Classic Meet is the largest high school invitational meet in the country. The meet included more than 3,300 athletes from more than 100 schools.

Amanda placed 6th in the 100 yard breaststroke. She also set a new school record in that event with a time of 1:07.86.

Stewart placed 10th in the diving and also set a new school record when he scored 345.55 points for his 11 dives.

Other participants in the meet were sophomore Abby Semler, and team captain MacKenzie Horvath.

Also, Congratulations to Amanda Sequeira who now holds school records in the following events:
200 yard freestyle  2:05.71
100 yard freestyle 1:00.50
100 yard backstroke  1:06.33
100 yard breaststroke  1:07.86

About the team:

The Summit Swimming Team holds their practices at the Cincinnati Country Day Pool from 7:45 - 9:15 p.m. Mon. - Thurs.

Athletes who enjoy swimming but have never been on a competitive team are encouraged to try out for the swim team. Stroke technique, drills, as well as endurance training are offered at all training sessions.
