Football 2011
A Season to Remember
The 2011 Football season found the Summit Silver Knights earning a 7-4 record and back in the State Playoffs for the second year in a row. The Knights finished tied for 3rd in the Miami Valley Conference, a conference that proved to be one of the toughest in the state by sending 5 teams to the playoffs. Traveling to Pleasant was a great experience for this 2011 team and though the game didn’t go how we planned, it will prove to be valuable for the young players who gained playoff experience and will benefit the future of Summit Football.
Though many individual performances were extraordinary and we reached our goal of going back to the playoffs, it was this 2011 team coming together as a family that really was the most special. There are many things that as a team we will always remember, like winning with one minute left to take home the Country Day Cup for a second year in a row, but it will be the tough, hot practices in August, team meals, chapel services and going to battle every Friday night as a family that will be the greatest memories of this season.
The 2010 team made the Ohio State Playoffs for the first time in 10 years and the 2011 team, led by a great group of seniors, were determined they would not be out done. The team posted a 7-4 record and made history, by making the playoffs two years in a row, a first for Summit Football. This 2011 team should be proud of the legacy they created and how they sent their seniors off with a winning record over the course of their 4 years with the program, which is a spectacular achievement.
Summit Football players had a great showing in postseason awards.
