Boys' Soccer 2011
Congratulations--District Champions!
The Summit Country Day School Men’s Soccer Program prides itself for being the preeminent soccer program in Cincinnati. Since its inception in 1980, The SCD men’s soccer teams have been recognized for athletic and academic achievements at city, state, regional and national levels.
For the past 15 years, the men’s program has also been well-known for collecting championships. The Summit is one of only three Cincinnati high schools to have won a soccer State Championship in the past 15 years, across all levels (Division I, II and III). The Summit is also the last Catholic school (and only Independent school) from Cincinnati to have won a state title. The Silver Knights have won 12 Miami Valley Conference trophies, 13 district titles, appeared in eight regional finals, and captured one State Championship. SCD has appeared in the Sweet 16 of the State Tournament four out the past five years.
The men’s soccer schedule always includes some of the top teams in the country. After the 1999 season, Cincinnati Division I and II schools began dropping The Summit from their schedules because they couldn’t consistently compete with them. So, the men’s program now travels to play the very best teams willing to take on the Silver Knights. SCD now plays teams that have won five out of the last six Ohio Division III State Championships, along with State Finalists and Champions from Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, as well as the very best teams from Toledo, Columbus and Cleveland.
College coaches always keep The Summit on their radar.
Within the past 15 years, 14 former players have gone on to play NCAA Division I soccer, and dozens of others have gone on to play for other colleges. The Cincinnati Player of the Year has come from The Summit four out of past six years. Within the past 15 years, The Summit has had three of the seven Cincinnati players named High School All American. Within the past 15 years, The Summit has had and five of the eight Cincinnati players named Scholar All American. Three former players were named NCAA Division I All Americans, another was named to the US Soccer National Pool, and yet another player was drafted 9th overall to the Chicago Fire in the MLS! (These are all more than any other Cincinnati school.)
