Boys' Soccer
2011 MVC and District Champions
The Summit Country Day School Boys' Soccer Program prides itself for being the preeminent soccer program in Cincinnati. Since its inception in 1980, The SCD soccer players and coaches have been recognized for athletic and academic achievements at city, state, regional and national levels.
For the past 15 years, the boy’s program has also been well-known for collecting championships. The Summit is one of only three Cincinnati high schools to have won a boys' soccer State Championship in the past 15 years, across all levels (Division I, II and III). The Summit is also the last Catholic school (and only Independent school) from Cincinnati to have won a boy's state title. The Silver Knights have won 13 Miami Valley Conference trophies, 14 district titles, appeared in eight regional finals, and captured one State Championship. SCD has appeared in the Sweet 16 of the State Tournament the past four years.
College coaches have always kept The Summit on their radar. Within the past 15 years, 14 players have gone on to play NCAA Division I soccer, and dozens of others have gone on to play for other colleges. For four out of past six years, the Cincinnati Player of the Year has come from The Summit. Within the past 15 years, three of the seven High School All Americans from Cincinnati have come from The Summit. Five of the eight High School Scholar All Americans from Cincinnati have come from The Summit. Three former SCD players were named NCAA Division I All Americans, another was named to the US Soccer National Pool, and yet another player was drafted 9th overall to the Chicago Fire in the MLS! (These are all more than any other high school in the Cincinnati area.)
The boy’s soccer schedule has always included some of the top teams in the country. After the 1999 season, Cincinnati Division I and II schools began dropping The Summit from their schedules because they felt losing to a Division III school hurt them significantly in their rankings. So, the men’s program now travels to play the very best teams willing to take on the Silver Knights. This past season, SCD played teams that have won a combined 21 state titles, including State Champions from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, as well as the very best teams from Toledo, Columbus and Cleveland.
