Summit Bowling 2009-2010

Summit begins its third year of boys' and girls' Varsity and JV Bowling.  Because of numbers, Mike Pierce, a 2008 Xavier U grad and experienced bowler, joins the coaching staff as Boys' Varsity and JV coach. Ed Escudero continues as the Girls’ Varsity and JV coach.  Both coaches will be working with both teams.  As with basketball, the OHSAA considers the boys’ team and the girls’ team as two completely separate teams.

Four girls and six boys return with varsity experience.  Senior Lauren Miller and juniors Rachel Moeggenberg, Anna Schwietering, and Briana Scott return for the girls.  Seniors Max Bowden, Andrew Middleton, Eric Stretcher, Peter Cooper, Sam Nunlist, and sophomore Ty Wahlbrink return for the boys. Steven Malseed, a junior, and Jeff Hock, a senior, return from the JV boys’ squad.

New to the program this year are juniors Ali Amend and Shirley Nunlist, and freshmen Margaux Hackett, Meg Mathile, and Sarabeth Stretcher for the girls.  New members of the boys' team include freshman Tommy Noe, sophomores Patick Dowling, Cameron Koch, and Alex Ross and seniors Donovan Eyre and Colin Kiley.

Madison Bowl is the new home of the two bowling teams.  Stones Lanes (the former home site) hosted five schools.  The concentration of school created problems with practice time and match scheduling.  Madison Bowl this year is hosting three schools; Walnut Hills and Clark Montessori join Summit.  Teams practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays during the week and on Saturday afternoons.  Most home matches are on Wednesday and away matches on Thursday.

Currently after four matches the boys have a one and three win loss record defeating Norwood in a match at Madison and losing to Clark, Norwood, and St. Xavier B in away matches. The girls are two and two for the year recording two victories against Norwood and losing to Clark and Ursuline.

Matches resume in January with a match against Clark on Jan 4.
